The Lamborghini HuracánSterrato and the Porsche 911 Dakar opened the door for the creation of a new niche in the market, that of sports crossovers. The Italian and the German are the only models that combine these two qualities, something that no other manufacturer has dared to do. However, those of Delta4x4 consider the opposite, transforming the Volkswagen Golf R is an SUV.
The Volkswagen Golf R has proven to be one of the most desirable sports compacts on the market since its launch. Despite the fact that its sales are residual, its image and character make it a strong candidate for lovers of high performance, surpassing many of its rivals. Its technical characteristics have been used by the Delta4x4 specialists to transform the German sports car into one of the wildest compact cars on the market.
The firm has revealed some interesting renders that make us look back a long way. At the end of the 80s, those from Wolfsburg presented and marketed the Golf Syncro, achieving sales of almost 30,000 units in three years. Just a couple of years later, the brand returned to the fray using the same base as the second generation of the German with the Golf Country concept car, and much more off-road than the previous one. Magna was responsible for the production of a series that did not achieve the same success as the previous one, with less than 10,000 units sold until mid-1992. Now, the Golf R returns for those furthest away from the asphalt.

The spirit of that compact SUV has returned, but more radical, in view of these recreations carried out by the German company that hopes to manufacture a small series of only 25 units. The Golf R has seen how it is transformed into a true SUV by adding a new body lift kit that increases ground clearance by 80 millimeters, which has allowed the standard wheels and tires to be replaced by a set of 18 inches with specific rubbers for off-road driving.
On the front there is also a battery of five additional powerful headlights that provide enormous lighting off the asphalt, offering the driver extra security when entering the most difficult terrain. Even the surface of the roof now has a large roof rack with a spare wheel, extra fuel or water canisters, and the necessary accessories to get out of more complicated driving situations.
Those at Delta4x4 haven't given the Golf R's powerful 320PS 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine an overhaul, along with a peak torque of 420Nm, more than enough power and torque. However, what they have indicated is what the transformation will cost customers: almost half of its official price: 35,000 euros for the conversion plus a delivery period of between six and nine months. That is to say, the most off-road Volkswagen Golf R will come out for almost 100,000 euros for those who really want to distinguish themselves.
