Honda Elevate: That's right and it's called Honda's new global SUV…

Honda is executing an ambitious plan to expand its portfolio. In the US and Europe, we have experienced the debuts of the ZR-V or e: Ny1, its second electric model. But its operations are not only spread over two mature regions like those already mentioned. Much of its success and annual figures are based on the sales it reaps in Asian countries such as India or China. Hence, they have developed the new SUV that we present to you: the Honda Elevate…

As you well know, Honda is electrifying its range. The aforementioned ZR-V or e: Ny1 are the best examples, but their ambitions go further as they don't forget more mundane models either. The new Elevate of which we will tell you its secrets is an SUV that, although it has been created for emerging countries like India, continues with its plans. In fact, this same model could reach other areas of the world and even do so as electric.

The design of the new Honda Elevate is more solid and powerful than other creations such as the HR-V…

As you can see in the photos, the design of the new Honda Elevate distances itself from its brothers. At least the difference is more palpable with the SUVs that the Japanese brand sells in Europe like the HR-V. As the brand explains in its press release, its design is based on the "Urban Freestyler" concept. This one stands out for its straight lines such as those that define the front with other more fluid ones such as those that shape the Full LED optics…

As a whole, the grille is vertical with an almost rectangular design and is crowned by a chrome trim that extends across the entire width and connects the optics. The hood is also high and flat, although on the sides it has lines of expression. The side view, for its part, shows a squarer silhouette that subtracts visual weight with contrasting two-tone bodywork. There is also no shortage of roof bars or black plastic protection...

Lastly, it is time to talk about the rear. Its fall is very vertical, standing out for the optics that occupy the entire width of the body and, in addition, are joined in the center. Of course, the connection is not functional, limiting itself to carrying the logo of the brand and giving entity to the gate. Inside, the simple lines dominate, highlighting the screen for the infotainment system or the wireless charging base that goes under the controls for climate control.

What versions will be in your range…? Could it come to Europe…?

For now, for the Indian market, the mechanical offer of the new Honda Elevate consists of a gasoline engine. It is the well-known 1.5 i-VTEC naturally aspirated with 89 kW (121 CV) of power and 145 Nm of torque managed by a six-speed manual transmission. As an option, there is an automatic CVT-type continuous variation. In both cases, the power of this modest engine reaches the ground, always, through the front axle.

But it will not be the only mechanical option with which the new Elevate can be purchased. If you go to the official press release of the brand you will be able to read that…

Therefore, as this model will also be sold in Europe, it would not be unreasonable for it to land on our continent when the electric version is official. With all its exterior it measures 4.31 meters long by 1.79 meters wide and 1.6 meters high. Its battle is 2.65 meters and the ground clearance of 22 centimeters with a trunk of 458 liters. In summary: it would be the electric alternative to the HR-V that Honda has been selling in Europe for years now, right?
