Introducing the New Volkswagen Tiguan: Redefining Compact SUVs

The official advances of the new Volkswagen Tiguan follow one another. The long-awaited new generation of the German brand's SUV has revealed its interior, a more technological dashboard that becomes a true turning point in the brand, and with a clear influence of the electric ID.7, of which we also already know its range. of engines.

Until the beginning of next September, the days in the Wolfsburg brand will become eternal. The German firm has already confirmed that the third generation of one of its best-selling models will be one of the great novelties of the new edition of the Munich Motor Show, the successor to the extinct Frankfurt that recovers its essence as a world showcase for novelties.

The Volkswagen Tiguan is the great novelty of the firm for this second half of the year, one of the most anticipated models in recent months and that the brand decided to reveal with a striking and special camouflage just a few days ago. So, we only saw his new features on the outside, also knowing some details of, for example, his measurements. We were even able to give you some clues about the interior design that we have also seen in spy photos. But, for the first time, you can now look into the cabin without any kind of camouflage or temporary element.

Details of the interior of the new Volkswagen Tiguan 2024

We saw the interior of the new Tiguan in a very provisional state last summer, but it was already pointing ways. As you can see, digitalization has become even more the owner of the dashboard, in which the digital instrument panel "Virtual Cockpit" stands out, which comes out further from the traditional visor, and with totally renewed graphics. Next, the new multimedia system touches the screen with 12.8 inches in the normal versions and 15.6 inches as an option.

Volkswagen has paid special attention, not only in terms of technology but also materials. The steering wheel not only offers a new design but also opts for classic multifunction buttons, one of the negative points that customers did not like and that has been resolved. But it also offers a cleaner transmission tunnel. As we anticipated, the gear lever has been transformed into a small control placed between the two screens, while its usual space has been occupied by a round control as a selector for driving modes.

It even has a screen at the top from which these are selected, the volume of the sound equipment and the intensity of ambient light are regulated. The parking brake, until now also located in the tunnel, is now located next to the minimalist gear lever. If you look more closely, Volkswagen has also changed the design of the ventilation nozzles. The prayers of Golf customers, who begged for a band of keys under the more visible display, now also backlit, have been answered making them more visible at night.

The last Tiguan in history comes with five engines and two PHEVs

The new Tiguan will be released in Spain at the beginning of 2024 and we already know what its range of engines will be. The German firm will offer, first, the traditional combustion versions, both gasoline and diesel, all with a 7-speed DSG automatic transmission. At the market launch, you will only be able to choose between three versions: the well-known 150 hp 1.5 TSI engine and the 2.0 TDI Evodiesel with 150 hp and 190 hp, the first two with 4MOTION all-wheel drive, standard on the third.

In the summer of 2024, the most efficient versions of the range will arrive, the PHEVs of two TiguaneHybrids. Gasoline will continue to be a fundamental part with a 156 hp engine and a 130 hp electric motor is associated. The German firm will offer two versions, front-wheel drive with 204 CV and all-wheel drive with 272 CV, both with a lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 18 kWh with which they will have a maximum range of 100 kilometers. In addition, its 11 kW on-board charger will allow it to be connected to fast charging points, supporting power of up to 50 kW with direct current, reducing the time required to carry out a charge by up to 80 percent.
