Kia EV3: The electric relay of the Ceed would already have a date to debut

The Kia Cee'd (with an apostrophe) was the car that placed the Korean house in the place it should have in Europe. With him, everyone understood that they were not rookies and that their goal was to become a worthy rival to, among others, Volkswagen. And not only has time not proven them right, but the current Ceed (without an apostrophe) has established itself as a true and clear sales success. However, the electrification of the "equal" sector ends his life...

In effect, Kia is electrifying its range. And his plans for the future could collide with some of the models that currently populate his catalog. The reason has to do with the need to not only update their mechanics in the form of electricity but also offer new names associated with them. And this is the reason why the current Ceed could have its days numbered in favor of a new Kia EV3. But do you want to know how it would happen…?

This hypothetical Kia EV3 would be in the same commercial segment as the Ceed and could hit the market in 2025...

If you do a little memory you will remember that the EV6 has replaced the Stinger as Kia's flagship. The brand's new electric has positioned itself very close to the Bavarian premiums and its managers did not want to miss the opportunity to "eat the ground" for them. Well, according to several sources, a Kia EV3 would be on the way as soon as the brand's plans indicate it. Not with this name, but within a broad offensive...

As you already know, by the year 2027 Kia will launch up to 15 new electric vehicles on the market. Its plans include occupying segments such as compacts, sedans, family cars, and SUVs. And of this number, it is believed that three would be destined for global markets as passenger vehicles. In addition, other sources such as Automotive News would have discovered that one of the three would be compact to be assembled in Europe.

Therefore, if this hypothetical Kia EV3 is a compact, what would happen to the current Ceed? Here we enter the least "muddy" terrain because for the moment neither the brand nor any regional manager has indicated that the Ceed's days are numbered as such. Of course, it is no secret to anyone that the South Korean house and Hyundai are thinking of a rival for the ID.3, Cupra Born, or MG4. In addition, all this should happen by 2025 in just 2 years.

What would the technique of this hypothetical EV3 be like…?

Taking into account that Kia could be working on the EV3 to replace the Ceed, you will wonder what would be technique that would give it life? Well, for now, the sources do not agree either, since the engineers of the brand plus those of Hyundai are working on a new modular platform for their electric future. Therefore, there is a question as to whether the EV3 would be based on the current E-GMP or on the new eM that is under development.

The technical characteristics of the latter are still unknown, but they should be similar to those of E-GMP. This is because the hypothetical EV3 can mount one or two electric motors per axis powered by a high-capacity lithium-ion battery. The powers of its possible versions are inconsequential because an electric motor, if well thought out, can offer great performance. What is sure is that its production is cheaper.

Be that as it may, if these sources are correct the current Ceed would have two or three years left on the market. And who knows, maybe the already mythical name that elevated the South Korean house to the top in Europe will say goodbye to him...
