Last Chance to Own a Ford Fiesta: Why Now Is the Time to Buy

After almost 50 years on the market and eight generations, the Ford Fiesta says goodbye: the eternal European bestseller of the Oval ends its production this June. And this means that very soon it will no longer be for sale.

For now, it can still be configured in Spain, which means that there is still time to get hold of this utility that says goodbye to us. With only one engine available, a gasoline micro hybrid, its price starts at around 24,600 euros. Although the brand is providing discounts of around 3,500 euros.

In addition, it also means the end of its sports variant, the Ford Fiesta ST, is one of the few sports utility vehicles on the market. This option is also still available in the configurator, adding to this last utility call.

The ingredients of the Ford Fiesta: ECO label and a sports version

The Ford Fiesta mounts the well-known 1.0 EcoBoost gasoline, but in its last commercial stage, it is only available in a mild-hybrid option. In other words, supported by a 48V electrical system with an integrated belt-driven starter/generator motor, which occasionally provides an extra 11.5 kW (16 HP). This earns the ECO label.

In total, this block signs 125 CV and 210 Nm, being managed by a six-speed manual transmission. Its consumption is set between 5.0 l/100 km and 5.1 l/100 km. And its emissions are between 114 g/km and 116 g/km of CO₂, so in any of its options it is free of registration tax, which helps to adjust its price.

What equips the last of the Ford Fiesta? The finishes available in the Ford Fiesta in our market are the Active and ST-Line. Both are quite similar in terms of equipment, differing essentially in aesthetics: the Active with elements typical of SUVs and somewhat higher off the ground, and the ST-Line with sporty accents, including sports suspension. The two finishes have more complete versions with the surname X: the Active X and ST-Line X

The new eight-inch multimedia display, integrated since its last generation, is present as standard in any of these versions. Although only the X variants include the Sync 3 multimedia system with integrated modem, and therefore Internet connection, and browser.

Also, the new package of assistance systems includes cruise control, automatic emergency braking, intelligent speed assistant (ISA), lane departure warning, lane keeping assistant, and fatigue detector.

In the Fiesta menu, we also find climate control, LED headlights, rear parking sensors, tinted windows or lights, and automatic wipers, among others. And in the Active X and ST-Line X, in addition, keyless access and starting or the rearview camera, are among the highlights.

Ford Fiesta ST: gasoline and with 200 CV. With regard to the sports variant of the utility, one of the few already of its kind, it does not have hybrid mechanics: under the hood, we find a 1.5-liter EcoBoost that reaches 200 CV. It is less powerful than the Toyota GR Yaris (261 CV) but with greater delivery than, for example, the Suzuki Swift Sport, which is mild-hybrid and signs 129 CV.

The Fiesta ST signs a top speed of 230 km/h and accelerates from a standstill to 100 km/h in 6.5 seconds. However, it is more expensive than its hybrid brothers as it approves 6.7 l/100 km in the mixed cycle and 153 gr/km of CO₂, not being exempt from registration tax.

In terms of equipment, it is the only one of the Fiestas with standard digital instrumentation, 12.3 inches, which is combined with the eight-inch multimedia screen with the Sync 3 system and browser. Also without surcharge, it enjoys matrix LED headlights or the rear view camera, in addition to its own elements such as the specific suspension. The wheels are 18 inches, larger than the Active and ST-Line, which are 17 inches.

From 21,183 euros, with a discount

The Ford Fiesta ranges from 24,677 euros for its cheapest option, the Fiesta Active, and 26,249 euros for the most expensive, the ST-Line X. However, with discounts close to 3,500 euros, they remain at 21,183 euros and 22,527 euros respectively. This price includes Ford's commercial contribution but requires financing with the brand.

For its part, the Fiesta ST sets its price at 31,470 euros, which with the current discount of 4,476 euros is offered for 26,995 euros. Its price is equal to that of the Swift Sport (25,745 euros, also with an offer), but much cheaper than the Toyota GR Yaris which is offered for 38,250 euros without any discount.

None of the Fiestas can join the aid of the MOVES III plan, since the program is exclusive for plug-in vehicles and does not include non-plug-in hybrids.
