Morris Garage announces the release date for their highly anticipated budget car

The days of the MG3 are numbered. Morris Garage's cheapest car will soon be replaced by a totally new model that will even be given a different name. MG has confirmed new details about when its launch will take place. A model that will be ready to reach European dealers in 2024.

MG has decided to turn the competitive European market for cheap cars upside down. The brand that is reaping extraordinary sales figures and that, without a doubt, is the great revelation of recent years, is working at full capacity on an ambitious product plan. An agenda that includes numerous launches for the end of 2024. Among all the novelties that Morris Garage is preparing, there is one that generates special interest. Even more so if we take into account the current times in Europe.

In the UK, the entry step into the MG range is occupied by a small and affordable utility. The MG3.A cheap car that rivals, among others, the Dacia Sandero, the KIA Rio, and the Skoda Fabia. This model, which on occasion has been speculated about its arrival in continental Europe, has its days numbered. He has been sentenced to death. However, this does not mean that your site in the offer will remain empty.

The successor to the MG3 will arrive in 2024 to face the Dacia Sandero

Senior MG officials in Europe have confirmed that the MG3 as we know it will disappear from the market to make way for a completely new model. A very affordable car that should revolutionize the B segment and put the leaders of a category that is of vital importance in the Old Continent in trouble.

In order to eliminate any kind of connection with the outgoing MG3, the new model will adopt another name. At the time, Guy Pigounakis, Commercial Director of Morris Garage in the UK, confirmed that this model will not be called the MG3: “The MG3 will continue for another 12-18 months, before being superseded. But we won't call it MG3."

The brand itself noted that its launch will take place in the coming year. Well, now it has been specified at what time in 2024 his entry on the scene will take place. Information provided by David Allison, Morris Garage Product, and Baking Manager. Speaking to specialized media, Allison warned that there will be no new generation of the MG3: "That is a replacement for a long time, that will happen in the spring of next year."

The successor to the MG3, a cheaper car than the MG ZS

One of the great unknowns about this future model has to do with the mechanical section. The information that has come to light in recent months warns that, if it opts for electrification, it will do so at a low level. This is where the door to 48-volt mild hybrid (MHEV) technology opens. In other markets, MG has already marketed cars with MHEV technology.

Nor should we rule out the possibility that this new model features a non-electrified gasoline engine, as is the case with the successful MG ZS. However, if Morris Garage finally chooses this route, its commercial trajectory in the European territory will be relatively short. We must remember that MG's goal is to become (in Europe) an electric car brand before 2028.
