Seres becomes independent from DFSK in Spain and becomes an electric car brand

Seres has become independent from DFSK in Spain to become an electric car brand. The Seres 3 will be the first model to be marketed by Seres as an independent firm. It has also been announced that, before the end of this year, the new Seres 5 will join the offer.

In the year 2021, the DFSK brand decided to bet on fully electric mobility. This important Chinese car manufacturer began marketing electric vehicles in Spain. Its first model of this nature was the DFSK Seres 3. An interesting SUV with extensive standard equipment and a range that exceeds the barrier of 300 kilometers according to the WLTP cycle.

Seres is actually an independent brand from DFSK. However, at that time, DFSK was in the process of expanding throughout Spanish territory at the expense of the resources that this entails. Advertising, opening new points of sale, expanding the after-sales service... There was no point in "starting from scratch" to introduce a new brand to the Spanish public.

Seres electric cars lose DFSK badge

The Seres 3 was integrated into the DFSK range. Something that, curiously, did not happen in other markets. Furthermore, to adopt the corporate image of DFSK, the Seres 3 sported a modified front end with a specifically designed (closed) grille on which the DFSK badge was displayed. Therefore, for a few years, we can say that a very special Seres 3 has been sold in Spain.

The "separation" of Seres and DFSK is now official. Seres has become an independent brand of DFSK. Now that said separation is official, the DFSK Seres 3 will become what it always should have been, the Seres 3. The new brand will be distributed in Spain by the Invicta Motor Group. This is the same group that is responsible for the distribution of DFSK passenger cars.

The Seres 3 will be the first Seres model that we can find in dealerships. It is already on sale and will soon have a renewed variant. In addition, before the end of this year, the offer will be expanded with a new and expected model. The launch of the Seres 5 has been confirmed. A medium-sized electric SUV that debuted last January within the framework of the Brussels Motor Show.

Seres 5, an electric SUV that points to the Tesla Model Y with 585 hp

Called to compete, among others, with the Tesla Model Y, the new Seres 5 develops a maximum power of 430 kW (585 CV). It is capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.7 seconds and its autonomy far exceeds the barrier of 500 kilometers according to the WLTP cycle thanks to its battery with semi-solid technology.

Founded by the Sokon Group in the "heart" of Silicon Valley, California, in 2016, SF Motors was born with the goal of developing and sharing advanced transportation technologies. The company was renamed as Seres in 2019. It is committed to both fully electric cars and extended-range electric cars.
