Finally, the launch of the simple one for the journey here has not been a simple one we'll talk about that later what everyone's talking about right now is the new rupees 1.45 lakh starting price and what we're going to talk about is the top 5 things you need to know about the simple one.
Battery updates
Now the first thing I want to talk about is the battery and the motor start with the battery now the battery is as earlier split into two usable bits one is under the seat which is a portable removable unit and there is also one under the flow now the one under the floor has grown in size to 3.5-kilowatt hours while the one under the seat is still the same at 1.5-kilowatt hours which means the total battery capacity has increased to five-kilowatt hours instead of the previous 4.8, this is done for two reasons number one is range you have now a 212-kilometer IDC range figure the second simple series is also for better thermal management of the battery.
I also want to touch on the motor now the motor seems to be the same unit as we saw on the Prototype which means that it makes 8.5 kilowatts of peak power and 72 NM of torque so which unlocks a 0 to 40 kilometers per hour time of 2.77 seconds to again exactly the same as the Prototype but this is despite the fact that the scooter has also increased in weight at 134 kgs.
Fit and finish
A second point I want to talk about is fit and finish because the last time we rode the scooter it was a prototype now the levels of quality certainly seem to have been improved there aren't too many rough edges that I can spot the charging door also seems to have been improved and design but it is still a little bit flimsy.
We also finally have mirrors. Now but that should not be happening anyways simply says they have done two lakh kilometers of testing and the overall scooter is 95 localized including the hardware the software the motor the battery all of that is probably the only thing that's imported is the battery cells whether the fit and finish are actually good we'll only find out when.
We properly test the scooter what I can see from now is the switch gear feels nice to use clicky but not as well-damped as I would like the screen is responsive and it doesn't seem very glitchy at the moment but once again we can only properly comment on this when we finally get to ride the scooter.
Features
Now moving on to point number three, the biggest thing in terms of features you get right now is this seven-inch touchscreen, which has slightly oddly shaped bezels around it. So you might think it's a full touch screen but now the screen is a rectangle in the middle of it and that screen is running on Android OS the touch response looks good and the overall software looks like what we saw in the prototype you're doing. Get some customization based on colors and based on the activity you are updating, you can see your exact data with turn-by-turn navigation.
Pricing
Point number 4 is that the price of an elephant is the price of a simple one Rs. 1.45 lakh ex-showroom Bengaluru, that's what was launched for the four base colors, and the two new colors announced today at Rs. 1.5 lakhs.
Showroom this price has gone up by Rs 45 to 50 000 simply earlier announced price if you are wondering what price you will pay if you book at that time I will start reporting you will have to pay a higher price and you are not going to value the scooter for the price you booked so whether you book it or you Even if you book now you will have to pay a higher price.
Availability
Now the final piece of the puzzle is now easy to get, it says that it wants to roll out these scooters in cities slowly, starting from June 6th in Bengaluru city, but they want it first. Have service and experience centers in those cities before they start delivering the scooters, we don't have an announcement on which city will be the next or when they will add the next city, but as of now, it's June 6, and Bengaluru and Simples. A target has been set to create 140 experience centers for electric scooter startups across the country by the end of this year.
Verdict
Usually going one of two ways, they either perfect their product first, then deliver it to customers, or they deliver it to customers, then work on simplifying their product, and the first one they seem to have taken both ways when they launched in August 2021. After almost a year of your test drives, now that we have the finished product, the fit and finish here definitely look better than the prototype, and some of the specs have improved, which is a good sign. The question of whether or not the weight is worth it can only be answered when you ride the scooter for long periods in the real world.
