The future Peugeot e-3008 advances its renewed panoramic i-Cockpit

When Stellantis was born, there were many doubts about what would happen to all its brands. Especially with regard to the entire positioning scheme, since until then, almost all its members were rivals among the generalists. And the result seems to have surprised its own and others as Citroën, Fiat, Opel, and Peugeot have joined so well that there are no gaps. The reason has to do with the fact that with each new model, their identities are reinforced.

The proof, so that you can see it well, is the new Peugeot e-3008 that is on the way. The House of the Lion is one of those that has changed the most in recent years and if it continues like this very soon it could enter the premium segment. But while it happens and does not, they have just presented to the world the latest evolution of their already revolutionary i-Cockpit. This is a handful of images that show that the interiors of the future range of Peugeot will be premium.

The new Peugeot e-3008 will officially debut next September…

And very technological although before telling you its secrets we will tell you when the new Peugeot e-3008 will debut. As you well know, the current 3008 is ending its life cycle and has become a true sales success. So much so that in the gala house they have taken advantage of the pull to include new Mild Hybrid engines. Well, if all the plans go well, it will be next September when the third generation of the 3008 will be released.

For now, the technical data of the new Peugeot e-3008 and its thermal brother 3008 are few. Even so, several sources have been revealing some of their secrets, helping us to understand what the brand's engineers have worked on. First of all, it will be one of the Stellantis models that will debut the new STLA Medium base (also known as eVMP or EMP2 V4). Therefore, there will be hybrid mechanics, PHEV, and electric…

In case you want to get a diesel we must give you bad news. Yes, because Peugeot will gradually abandon the use of this fuel in its cars and will replace it with its new electrified engines. With this technological level in mind, the transmissions will also improve with an e-DCT7 dual-clutch automatic of its own manufacture together with Punch Powertrain. Even so, there will also be manual versions for the most "basic".

How is the new panoramic i-Cockpit…?

Now we will enter to tell you what the new Peugeot panoramic i-Cockpit is like. Running from top to bottom is a 21-inch curved screen in front of the driver that is managed via i-Toggles shortcuts. These are ten haptic controls (bad, very bad) that serve as direct access to the function they represent. This is a simple solution to reduce the controls simplifying the design but complicating the use in driving.

For example, the air conditioner disappears again after an i-Toggle control. If before it was tactile now it is not known how it will be managed because there are no more controls on the dashboard. They do go over the central tunnel but they don't seem to be the most intuitive on the market or have all the functions. For its part, the transmission leaves the central tunnel and happens to be between the plate that brings together the i-Toggles and the start button with a small PRND selector.

Continuing with the dashboard, the vents are smaller and more compact located just above the i-Toggle area. Finally, in the central tunnel, there is space for a wireless charging platform, warning control, and a wheel to raise, lower, or mute the sound system. All this is surrounded by materials that look of high quality and with adjustments that we could well find in models located in the ranges of premium houses.

As for personalization, Peugeot revolutionizes the new e-3008 with new LED ambient lighting. It extends across the entire width of the dashboard, even reaching the doors. It can also be customized with the choice of up to eight different tones that, as a curiosity, are reflected in the aluminum trim that goes on the dashboard.

As a climax, we must talk about the new steering wheel. Now it looks smaller and more oval than ever, including new haptic controls on the arms that, we hope, work better than Volkswagen's. We don't know if all e-3008s will have a two-spoke steering wheel, but we hope the vision will be better now than before. In addition, the monitor in front of the driver collects all the information related to the new Head-Up Display.
