This could be the new Mitsubishi XFC or perhaps the future ASX...?

Mitsubishi is now more alive than ever. The house with the three diamonds has an ambitious product plan on the table that will lead it to update, and even expand, its range of models. In Europe, we already know that almost all of its innovations will be rebranded from Renault models such as the current ASX and the future Colt. But its offer will also include heavyweights such as the latest generation of the Outlander that has given them so much joy...

In other regions of the world, its strategy will be different, betting on its own developments. One of the models that is called to a real sales success is the new Mitsubishi XFC. We have already told you about him because a while ago he saw the light of day in a conceptual format. And recently the Japanese house dared to publish a couple of teasers with which, in addition to showing part of its design, they said when it would arrive. Well, now these renders create doubts.

The new Mitsubishi XFC, or ASX as the rumors suggest, will sport a very aggressive style... reminiscent of the Volvo EX30...

As you have already read, the Mitsubishi XFC debuted in concept format some time ago. So far so good but in the underworld of the network it is said that this model could reach the market under another name. But before all the doubts that there are, first we are going to tell you how these renders see the street model and then we will deal with its possible commercial name. Final? The fact is that Nikita Chuiko has taken charge of creating him for Kolesa.

As you can see, Chiko has taken as a basis the images that Mitsubishi published in its day to present the XFC. On them, it can be seen that the bodywork does not change much, although the optics, the front grill, and the design of the bumper with some more air intake will. In addition, handles will also arrive to open the doors and the wheel arches will be dressed in classic protection, as well as the exterior mirrors will become the same as always.

If we review the rear of this render we discover that there are also subtle differences. The optics will be simpler to be cheaper to manufacture and the bumper varies certain lines. There will also be a rear wiper and the roof could be available in two-tone paint. Another detail that disappears in the renders is the original third brake light that went under the upper spoiler that crowns the tailgate or the exhaust outlets...

So, could we be facing the new ASX…?

Now that you know a little better the design of this hypothetical new XFC, we will try to explain the doubts that exist about the definitive name of this model. As you well know, the Mitsubishi ASX, also called in other areas of the world RVR, was a turning point for the firm. It put it in the SUV segment and helped it increase its sales and presence in markets as complex and special as the European one.

But after his fall from grace and subsequent merger with Nissan, he became part of the Renault-Nissan Alliance. Thanks to this "arrangement" he has been saved from bankruptcy but has lost part of his personality. Especially when he announced that a new ASX would arrive in Europe and they presented themselves with a rebranded Captur. Well, there are voices that suggest that the XFC you see in the renders is the ASX that really should have arrived but will stay in Asia...

But if this rumor were true, we have a couple of doubts. First. The European ASX is very recent, so if the firm wants to match it with the XFC, would it die early to be replaced by the latter? Second. If this is the case, what sense would it make to have launched a redial of the Captur? Be that as it may, we do not believe at all that the XFC is the ASX that should have arrived in Europe, although it is true that we like it better...
