Toyota GR Prius: The sports version of the Japanese saloon is cool…

Toyota has decided that its models need to have sports versions. We've gone from having a nondescript range where many of their cars didn't represent dynamism in any way to each and every one of them having some racing undertone. For this, they created GAZOO Racing with the associated initials GR which little by little has reached models like the new Toyota GR Prius Concept that we present to you in these official photos.

As you well know, Toyota is a specialist in hybridization. This specialization is seen in each of the models and versions that it launches on the market, although little by little it will go on to electrification. And the new generation Prius is proof of everything that the Japanese house has improved from the first to the current one. So much so, that the brand's engineers also dare to create a sporty GR version that also arrives at a very special event.

The Toyota GR Prius sports, among other aerodynamic additions, a carbon spoiler or hood…

As you can see, the basic design lines of the new Toyota GR Prius Concept do not vary from the "street" versions. In this case, the brand's engineers have opted to make it more aggressive by adding an aerodynamic package in which there is no shortage of front canards along with a splitter or side skirts of the specific design. In addition to wider fenders, a rear spoiler, and a large diffuser...

As a curious fact to take into account, there is a hood made of carbon fiber or optics with four LEDs in the bumper alluding to the GR010 Hybrid. There are also special 18-inch RAYS light-alloy wheels with optimized aerodynamics that are fitted with Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires in size 235/50 R18. Finally, the large central air intake of the bumper has a specific honeycomb pattern plus the GR logo.

As for decoration, in general, it stands out for the use of black and white. The bodywork is divided into sections to provide a sportier touch, also including the GR and HY Hybrid Racing logos. In addition, the Toyota logo and the trade name of the Prius disappear. In this case, they are hidden behind the black tone that is used in elements such as the trunk lid or the front. In addition, for their part, normal optics darken...

Could this GR Prius Concept reach the market…?

Now after telling you how this Toyota GR Prius Concept is, we will tell you that it is not really called that. You are facing the Toyota Prius 24h Le Mans Centennial GR Edition or what is the same, a very special version. So much so that it is a model created, expressly, to commemorate the first centenary of Le Mans as a sporting event. But its creation also has another mission in mind: to honor the development of hybrid technology from the Japanese house.

With everything, you still wonder, what does the Mazda MX-30 R-EV paint next to the Toyota? Well, it's there because Mazda was the first Japanese brand to win at Le Mans in 1991 with the 787B equipped with a rotary engine. For its part, Toyota achieved glory five consecutive times but it would not be until the years 2018 to 2022. In addition, it hopes to win its sixth race this year 2023. Regarding its sale, do not flatter yourself and even less in Europe...
