The BMW 1 Series is one of the most famous and most popular compacts and will soon receive a major update.
The German brand is already preparing the new version of its reference hatchback, the 1 Series, which it intends to update without losing the essence that has given it so much fame as one of its best-selling models.
WHAT AWAITS US?
The current generation of BMW 1 Series has been around since 2019, which means the time has come for BMW to update one of its most iconic models. You can see evolutions in the model. Work on the refreshed hatchback continues from Germany as the new concept is seen with less and less camouflage.
AT A GLANCE AHEAD
While it's obviously a fully disguised test vehicle, there appears to be some change to the front of the car. The lower part of the bumper now shows more of its design, as a large trapezoidal grille with triangular air vents on the sides seems to take center stage. This means that BMW has decided to characterize the compact with a more aggressive design compared to the current model, although it seems that the leaks are from the M135i version of the hatchback's next update. This would also explain the fact that it has larger wheels with a diamond-cut finish, which comes from the current model.
AT A GLANCE FROM BEHIND
However, at the rear of the new 1 Series, you don't see much change. The taillights are almost completely covered, which doesn't leave much room for interpretation. There are temporary reflectors in the corners of the rear bumper, which could be an indication of a slightly changed design. We don't see the vertical slats of the current M135i on the two sides of the bumper, but they could be covered by the camouflage. On the other hand, we can see the already characteristic quadruple exhaust pipes at the rear.
MORE THAN ONE LEAK
This is not the first time that they have caught the new M135i in the testing phase and there is even a rumor that suggests that the top-of-the-range version could undergo a name change, going to M140i, so as to reflect the increase in power that, as it has been leaked, will receive. The current model offers a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine delivering 306 hp. These figures could be improved by reaching 320 CV.
DATES
We still do not know when the new 1 Series will arrive, although it has been rumored that it could arrive this year in 2023. Despite its 2024 name, it could end up seeing the light before the aforementioned date next year. It could also be followed by the 2 Series in Coupé, Cabrio, and Gran Coupé versions.
The BMW is for years a model very followed by the fans of the brand, and its release on the market is awaited with some impatience. We also do not yet know anything about the prices of the 2024 range.
