BYD has begun its assault on Spain with the aim of revolutionizing (and leading) the incipient market for electric cars. This Chinese colossus, a true specialist in the manufacture of electrified vehicles, has put together an extremely interesting product offer made up exclusively of 100% electric cars in record time. A range in which we can find vehicles of different kinds.
In the spotlight is Morris Garage. The “revelation” brand, although its best-selling model is a cheap gasoline-powered SUV, has crept into the top of the ranking of best-selling electrified vehicles. The BYD Dolphin arrives in Spain, and the first units are registered
BYD's proposal for the electric compact market is a next-generation car named Dolphin. A model that we can already find in our dealerships. During the month of June 2023, the first registrations of BYD Dolphins have been registered. Specifically, 15 units of the new electric vehicle that arrived from distant China have been recorded.
It has been the second best-selling BYD model in Spanish territory. It was only surpassed by the BYD Atto 3, which has reached 41 registrations. An SUV that falls within the C segment and that has supported the weight of the brand's offer during the first stage of its entry into the Spanish passenger car market.
The new Dolphin is the cheapest BYD that we can find, at the moment, in our dealerships. Therefore, it is called upon to concentrate the bulk of the brand's registrations. Especially when all the machinery is put into operation and the most basic motorization is promoted, which will allow a sale price to be set below €30,000.
BYD Dolphin, an electric car with up to 427 km of autonomy
The first units of the Dolphin that have been registered are equipped with the most performance engine. Motorization is made up of a 60.4 kWh LFP battery and a 150 kW (204 CV) motor and 290 Nm of maximum torque. It can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 7 seconds and reach a top speed of 160 km/h. The autonomy of the Dolphin stands at 427 km according to the WLTP cycle.
BYD recently expanded the Dolphin range with access motorization. A model with a 44.9 kWh battery whose main purpose is to power a 70 kW (95 HP) motor. In this case, it declares a range of approximately 340 km.
