Fiat 600e: The new electric B-SUV that gives 400 km of autonomy

The new Fiat 600e is already official. With this model, the Turin firm comes out of a long lethargy in which its range and the type of models that make it up were lagging behind the competition. The 500 and Panda have had behind them the sales of the also veteran 500X and Tipo. In itself, the touch of modernity came thanks to the 500e and the electric Ulysse, but their sales volumes could not sustain the structure of the brand for much longer.

Be that as it may, Fiat resurfaces to return to its most original essence. And the new 600e is proof that they know how to make good cars with a design that a wide spectrum of customers can like. The problem is that it hasn't stopped leaking since we found out it was on the way and its debut seems to have been somewhat "loose." The fact is that even if you don't believe it, we are facing a model that will change, or should change, many things in Fiat...

The aesthetics of the new Fiat 600e evokes the "Doce Vita" and goes beyond what the 500e looks like...

If you read us often you will know that the new Fiat 600e is a B-SUV. Its body reaches 4.17 meters long, 1.98 meters wide, and 1.52 meters high with a wheelbase that reaches 2.56 meters. Therefore, it is in the range above the Panda and below the current 500X, which will grow in the future to leave more space for it. And precisely in the 500e and 500X, their designers have set themselves to give shape to a really attractive aesthetic…

We already talked about his line when we had the first official images but it doesn't hurt to review it. Especially when you see the front that shows off circular Full LED optics that are split. On the hood are the "eyebrows" and the main focus is on the bumper which has a kind of tab that bites into the wheel arch. Below is a secondary circular optic that is divided into two sections. All of this is presided over by the 600 logo that eliminates the Fiat logo…

This is located on the front grill that is split with respect to the lower air intake of the bumper. To shelter the anti-fog there are some black moldings in the corners. On the side and the rear, the influence of the 500e and 500X is noticeable because its lines are soft. The new alloy wheels stand out and are up to 18 inches in size or the “C” shaped optics. Nor can we ignore the 600 logo on the bumper and the Italian flag.

Familiar interior, solid and minimalist style…

Behind closed doors, the style of the new Fiat 600e is known, but it is not boring or bland. On the contrary, it is a logical interior with, at least visually speaking, high quality and good fit. The general lines of the center console are similar to those of the 500e and its cousin the Jeep Avenger. It stands out for the central touch screen that goes in a floating position and is 10.25 inches in size. Or by the 7-inch digital instrument panel.

One bright spot is that Fiat designers have kept the analog climate controls that sit just below the vents. This element occupies the entire width of the dashboard and splits the oval that forms the dashboard in two. Nor can we ignore that the automatic transmission is managed through a series of controls that go over the central tunnel. This solution is not very logical but it offers more space.

The steering wheel is another element to consider as it has a two-spoke design. On these, the controls are grouped to manage different elements such as ADAS. As for materials, Fiat boasts of including more recycled elements to be more respectful of the environment. Lastly, the volume of the trunk starts at 360 liters and reaches 1,231 liters, although the central tunnel has a curious magnetic lid.

Its mechanical offer, for now, is limited to an interesting electric powertrain…

Technically speaking the new Fiat 600e is a clone of the Jeep Avenger. Its platform has been designed from scratch with electrification as its flagship and the proof is that its offer, for now, is limited to an electric powertrain. In this case, we are facing the version of 115 kW (156.4 CV) of power with 260 Nm of torque that drinks from a 54 kWh lithium-ion battery. Thanks to it, according to the WLTP protocol, it has a range of 400 kilometers.

Its maximum speed is not official, but it does go from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in 9 seconds. The driver can also choose between three driving modes: eco, normal, and sport. Regarding the load, there are two options to choose from 100 kW in direct current or 11 kW in alternating current. In the first case, it takes less than half an hour to charge the battery to 80% and in the second less than 6 hours. Later in mid-2024, a hybrid powertrain will arrive.

The sale of the new Fiat 600e has already started. It does so in two trim levels, RED and La Prima, which have really extensive equipment as a common denominator. Later, in a second commercial phase, the rest of the finishes to which Fiat has already accustomed us will reach the range. For its part, the first deliveries will take place from the month of September and their official rates without discount are these…
