From Concept to Reality: The Journey of the Creator's Electric Sports Car with Impressive Rear Axle Power

It is Japanese and has been designed by the stylist responsible for two more famous models in the industry, the Nissan Cube and GT-R R35. Shiro Nakamura is the signature of this small electric sports car that will be a novelty at the Goodwood Festival of Speed 2023. A true long-range and very fast missile but it will take time to go on sale if it does.

Shiro Nakamura stayed at Nissan for more than a decade. The Japanese were one of the trusted men of those responsible for the Japanese brand, very daring and daring, displaying his experience in models as decisive as the Nissan Cube or the sports GT-R R35. When he left his position five years ago, he joined his own company, SN Design Platform.

In close collaboration with another Japanese company, an engineering consultancy called AIM Company Limited. Nakamura has made Yukinori Suzuki's request a reality: a small-scale sports car that made its debut last spring in Japan, but will now do the same at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. The great novelty of the firm is called AIM EV Sport 01 and bears the seal of Nakamura, a functional concept car that will demonstrate its qualities in the British event in the field of electric cars.

AIM EV Sport 01

Its lines and style have some influence from well-known high-performance models such as the TVR. Clean lines with bulging wheel arches, especially the front ones, in which the four round headlights stand out, as does the structure of the passenger compartment in the form of an aeronautical fuselage made of a material similar to glass, and which extends through the roof forming one piece with the rear window.

The rear stands out more than the frontal area, with a ducktail-shaped spoiler that forms a large piece that houses the striking LED taillights on a glossy black panel. Nothing is left to chance to offer top-level aerodynamics. The AIM EV Sport 01 also stands out for its key quality, its small dimensions, and for weighing less than a ton and a half -1,425 kilograms- thanks to the laminated carbon fiber body panels and the tubular aluminum chassis.

Gull-wing doors do not have handles, nor do conventional rear-view mirrors. They have been replaced by cameras that transmit graphic information to a high-resolution screen integrated into the digital instrument panel, the sports seats are upholstered in Alcantara and the steering wheel has a rectangular design made of carbon and wrapped in light brown leather.

But, without a doubt, the best thing is the propulsion system which makes it a true long-range and pocket missile. The EV Sport 01 mounts two new-generation electric motors on the rear axle, yielding a maximum power of no less than 360 kW. An enormous figure of 490 CV and a maximum torque of 720 Nm are managed through an advanced torque vectoring system.

AIM has assembled a new generation lithium-ion battery, four packs arranged in sheets that have a capacity of 81 kWh, a figure that we do not know if it is gross or net and usable, with which it will offer extensive autonomy. The manufacturer has not specified it, but it aims for more than 300 kilometers, as it has done with performance, of which it says that its motor units can reach up to 600 CV. For now, there are no signs of a series production, but those responsible for AIM value a very limited edition, it all depends on the attention it attracts at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, which may be the final push.
