The development process for the new Audi RS Q8 is underway. The exclusive sports SUV signed by Audi Sport will undergo a tune-up. A "facelift" photographed for the first time while carrying out some very important tests at the Nürburgring track.
The time has come for Audi's Q8 range to undergo a major tune-up. After the incorporation of the 100% electric models, previously known as the Audi e-tron and Audi e-tronSportback, it is time for the thermal SUV in all its versions to be updated. The Ingolstadt manufacturer has launched all the machinery with the aim of carrying out the development process of the new Audi Q8. A "facelift" is coming.
The facelift as a mid-cycle update will allow this generation of the Q8, the first, to be able to face the rest of its commercial life that lies ahead. The most radical, exclusive, and sporty version will not be alien to this renewal. The Audi RS Q8 will also be updated. The facelift of the Audi Sport sports SUV has been photographed for the first time.
New Audi RS Q8 2024
A prototype of the new RS Q8 has been hunted in broad daylight. Our spy photographers have found a test unit in an idyllic place for lovers of the motor world. The Nurburgring layout. Audi's sports division has moved its "headquarters" to the German circuit with the aim of facing tests that are of vital importance to successfully complete development.
The spotted unit features the characteristic Audi camouflage. A camouflage that focuses on the front and rear. Something logical, since it is a facelift, the main changes in the exterior design will be located both in the front and in the rear. Some changes will allow it to be in line with the other models that make up the growing Q8 family.
It will continue to be a quickly recognizable model. As with the RS Q8 that we can currently find in dealerships, the new model will be decked out in a body kit designed especially for the occasion. It will also be fitted with exclusive wheels that reveal the high-performance braking system. And as if that were not enough, at the rear we have the already classic exhaust system with two large, oval-shaped outlets.
Leaving aside the exterior, if we had the opportunity to take a look inside this prototype of the new RS Q8, we would also find very interesting news. The infotainment system will be updated and will present a renewed interface. New customization options and an expansion of the available equipment are also expected.
The electrified engine of the new Audi RS Q8 2024
Regarding the mechanical section, no big surprises are expected. Under the hood of the new RS Q8, there will still be a 4.0-liter turbocharged V8 petrol engine. A block that develops 600 CV and 800 Nm of maximum torque. It is associated with an eight-speed Tiptronic automatic gearbox and a quattro all-wheel drive system.
The main key to this mechanics is that it has 48-volt light hybrid technology (MHEV). Therefore, it bears the DGT (General Directorate of Traffic) ECO environmental label with all the mobility advantages that this entails. The German firm is expected to make small adjustments with which to improve the performance of this engine and, at the same time, improve both consumption and emissions.
When will it hit the market? The new Q8 will be ready to storm dealerships in the first half of 2024. It remains to be seen if the sports variant of Audi Sport will arrive at the same time as the conventional model or if we will have to wait a little longer to see it on the market.
