The Tesla Model 2 was unknown until recently since the California brand has not given

The brand has leaked information about this "Model 2", whose name is yet to be confirmed. Several investor presentations have made explicit reference to this project, and some official sketches have given a better idea of its appearance.
It will not be a sedan
We must discard the five-door sedan that many had imagined when there were still no clues. This little Tesla will take the form of a compact SUV. A logical choice given the global vocation of the American brand, which has become accustomed to selling the same type of vehicle on all continents and taking into account the great commitment by many drivers to this type of vehicle with more ground clearance.
A Sall size SUV
The renowned analyst of technological structures, Pierre Ferragu assured that "it will be 15% shorter, 30% lighter, and will have a 25% smaller battery compared to the current Tesla Model 3". It could have measurements of around 4.5 meters long. A length is similar to those of the Peugeot 3008 and Renault Austral, without going any further.
To optimize aerodynamics, and therefore autonomy, this 100% electric crossover will make sure to maintain a reasonable height and a retracted stern. It will not do without style at all of what is already on the market today of the brand.
Production
To cut costs, Tesla plans to use electric motors that cut its use of silicon carbide by 75%. The number of cables will be reduced thanks to the passage from 12 to 48 V of the battery for the accessories.
As for the traction accumulator, it will use lithium-iron-phosphate (LFP) technology, a chemistry that Tesla was one of the pioneers in using and that is less expensive than nickel-manganese-cobalt (NMC). Battery capacity will be reduced to just 53 kWh according to a document sent to investors. According to our French colleagues at L'argus, the Model 3 and the Model would be closer to 60 kWh today and could increase to 75 kWh in the future.
Manufacturing
The manufacture of this electric compact SUV will take place in a new factory, located in Mexico. A country that benefits from a free trade agreement with the United States and Canada and that has much lower costs when it comes to producing the car for the American brand.
However, the construction of this new large North American factory has not yet begun. Although some production could come from China, deliveries of this Model 2 are unlikely to begin before 2025. Especially since a concept hasn't even been announced, unlike the Cybertruck or second-generation Roadster. These two projects announced respectively in 2019 and 2020 have given a lot of talk due to their multiple delays. They may have led Tesla to be more careful in its announcement timelines.
Presentation and Prizes
We can expect a presentation of this Model 2 in 2024, starting at around 25,000 euros, an objective that according to the brand they have always had.
This would give the brand a boost in a different price range
than the one they currently handle. In fact, the recent price drop on its
models has given them a boost in terms of the number of sales, positioning it
as one of the leaders in the EV market and being more accessible to many other
people.
