An Overview of the Cadillac Escalade IQs Safety Features

Cadillac has officially unveiled the long-awaited 100% electric variant of its popular luxury SUV. The new Cadillac Escalade IQ bursts onto the scene as a flagship of the American brand's commitment to sustainable mobility. It is equipped with the most advanced technology and a large 200 kWh battery that gives it a range of more than 700 km.

Cadillac has taken an important step in its electric offensive with the presentation of a long-awaited model. In recent months we have closely followed the development process of an expected 100% electric SUV. A model that has finally made its debut in society. The wait is over. The new Cadillac Escalade IQ has burst onto the scene. The electric Cadillac Escalade is already a reality.

We are facing the first Cadillac full-size SUV. A vehicle that will play the role of the flagship in terms of fully electric mobility. The new Escalade IQ is equipped with the most advanced General Motors technology in terms of connectivity, safety, and comfort. Let's go into detail and review the keys and main features of the long-awaited electric American manufacturer.

The exterior design of the new Cadillac Escalade IQ

Just take a quick look at the images that illustrate this article to discover the distinctive features of the new Escalade IQ. Cadillac's design team cautions that the use of EV architecture has provided a "blank slate" in shaping the 100% electric variant of the Escalade. The result is a reinterpretation of the classic American luxury SUV.

It sports a sleek profile, but with a silhouette that remains instantly recognizable as an Escalade. The new design has "pushed" the wheels toward the corners, allowing for a more powerful stance. The shape of the hood and roofline has also changed. A special mention should be made of the front and rear light groups. And especially to the light signature drawn by the new LED lights. By the way, it is fitted with 24-inch wheels.

The interior and technology of the new Cadillac Escalade IQ

Leaving aside the exterior, if we go inside the new Escalade IQ we will quickly be enveloped by the atmosphere of a luxury car and, more specifically, of a luxury Cadillac. The cabin is very spacious. The Escalade IQ has three rows of seats to accommodate a maximum of seven adult passengers. Optionally, two executive-type individual seats can be equipped for the second row. This leaves us with an interior with six seats.

The driving position is digital and connected. It is inevitable not to pay attention to the impressive system of curved screens with a total size of 55 inches. Thanks to this, there is fully digital instrumentation, a multimedia screen for the infotainment system, and, as if that were not enough, a third touch screen for the passenger. Unfortunately, for lovers of physical control. The air conditioning module is also completely digital. It integrates into an additional screen to manage different systems.

As regards the list of driving assistance systems, it is, as expected, very extensive. It has, among other technologies, blind spot assist with steering intervention, automatic emergency braking at intersections, HD surround vision, improved automatic parking assist, and automatic forward emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection.

The autonomy of the new Cadillac Escalade IQ

Beyond the exterior design, the technological equipment or the materials used in the interior finishes, all eyes are on the propulsion system. Something logical since it is a completely electric car. The "heart" of the new Escalade IQ is a 24-module Ultium battery with more than 200 kWh. The energy stored in the battery is used to feed two electric motors, one per axis. Therefore, the new electric Cadillac has an all-wheel drive.

The propulsion system produces a maximum power of 560 kW (761 CV) and 1,064 Nm of maximum torque. A power that is reached by selecting the Velocity Max mode. You can complete the sprint from 0 to 96 km/h in less than 5 seconds. Although Cadillac has not given a specific figure, it warns that the autonomy of the Escalade IQ exceeds 724 kilometers. The towing capacity exceeds 3,600 kilograms.

As for charging times, they vary depending on the electrical outlet used. The first thing to note is that it has an 800-volt architecture, so it supports high charging power. In the best case, the charge equivalent to 161 km can be obtained in 10 minutes. In addition, the Escalade IQ's battery can be used as a mobile power station as V2H (Vehicle-to-Home) and V2L (Vehicle-to-Load) technologies make an appearance.

The Ultium Energy Recovery system takes heat pump technology to a new level to maximize efficiency and, above all, get the most out of every watt.

Release date and prices of the new Cadillac Escalade IQ

When will it hit the market? Cadillac has confirmed that series production of the new Escalade will begin next summer at General Motors' facilities in Detroit, Michigan (United States). More specifically in the so-called Factory ZERO plant. The starting price will be approximately $130,000 (€118,415).
