The four cheapest campervans that you can buy to go on vacation without stepping foot in a hotel

In recent years the price of motorhomes, caravans, and camper vans has risen like foam, in line with their demand. Nor are vehicle conversions cheap as a general rule, although there are more and more manufacturers and specialists offering alternatives for all budgets.

We have made a selection with five of the cheapest camper options on the market for lovers of caravaning, which is more than a fashion or a different way of traveling, it is a lifestyle. From the Dacia Jogger prepared by Camperiz to the Nissan Townstar by Tinkervan, passing through the Peugeot Rifter, you have options available from 20,000 euros.

Dacia Jogger Camperiz, the cheapest camper option

Currently, the cheapest camper option in our market is the Dacia Jogger prepared by Camperiz from Burgos. Based on the five-seater Dacia Jogger Essential with the 100 hp ECO-G engine (the version that can run on LPG and gasoline), it offers everything you need for sporadic getaways, starting at 20,995 euros (just 2,955 euros more than the model from which it starts, with a price of 18,040 euros).

The basic equipment included in this camper version to spend a night away from home is a rear bed frame, a removable mattress for the inner bed, a reclining bed back to improve access to the boot, and nine-layer thermal insulation. Campers take care of everything, including approval and ITV.

For a more complete preparation, the firm offers an optional package that, for an additional 3,039 euros, adds a 60-l capacity rear storage space, interior LED lighting, an electric shower tap, a 12-l capacity clean water tank, water pump, auxiliary battery, refrigerator with compressor, gas stove, and a set of two folding chairs and a table, among other things.

Campers also offer other extras for the Dacia Jogger such as an exterior awning, a rear awning for the boot lid, a roof storage box, a bicycle rack, a chemical toilet or a roof tent, and even an extra mattress for the seats. front.

Another cheap camper option is brought to us by Dacia itself, with a catalog of accessories to transform the Jogger into an increasingly complete mini camper. The 'Sleep Pack' stands out, which weighs less than 50 kg and includes a frame with a bed for two (1.3 m wide by 1.90 m long) and an extra storage drawer that occupies practically the width of the trunk.

This pack costs 1,500 euros when ordering a new Dacia Jogger (regardless of the finish) or 1,790 euros if you buy it alone. It can be completed with blinds for the windows and a specific tent that fits the tailgate, priced at 380 euros.

Nissan Townstar by Tinkervan, from 29,100 euros

The Nissan Townstar (also available in a combi version) came to the range of light vehicles of the Japanese brand in 2021 to take over from the NV250 (cousin of the Renault Kangoo) and the e-NV200 compact van.

Under the hood, you can mount the 130 CV 1.3 TCe gasoline engine or a 122 CV electric one (with a range of 285 km and a 44 kWh battery), but this model stands out for something when it comes to becoming a cheap camper It is because of its interior space.

Hand in hand with Tinkervan, its 3.9 m3 cargo area is used to the maximum in the gasoline variant, which can be converted into a most versatile campervan solution. This version, part of the 25,205 euros (price with promotion and without financing), and scampered stays below the barrier of 30,000 euros.

This versatile and compact camper prepared by a renowned Spanish preparer with more than 15 years of experience, includes elements such as a folding table that can be placed between the rows of seats or used outside.

In addition, it has a structure that allows the assembly of a bed with a viscoelastic mattress, an electrical system with an auxiliary battery, and LED interior lighting.

As an option, stationary heating, a small fridge, an awning, folding chairs or a portable shower kit with a 13 l water tank can also be added. The final price will logically depend on the extras chosen.

Peugeot Rifter by Tinkervan, scampered from 2,500 euros

Tinkervan is also the ally chosen by Peugeot to camperize its Rifter and Expert, getting the most out of it with different modules. In the case of the Peugeot Rifter by Tinkervan, one of the most versatile small vans on the market, the model starts at a base price of 22,140 euros (taxes included).

Tinkervan's preparation has been designed for both new Rifters and those already in circulation, but taking into account that they must always be on a Long chassis, with a folding passenger seat and the row of rear seats in individual configuration.

With this in mind, the equipment that is added to seek sporadic comfort away from home is an 80 Ah auxiliary battery, digital control unit, 12 V and USB sockets, Airlock for the tailgate window, Webasto heating with height kit and table for inside / outside.

It also has a bed in a removable module, with a viscoelastic mattress, removable upholstery, and an extra to sit on the passenger seat. The bed module also hides a storage room with an outdoor shower.

The price for this camper version of the Rifter by Tinkervan starts at 4,750 euros (without taxes) for the Rifter with a diesel engine and 5,250 for the gasoline versions, since stationary heating is more expensive if it runs on gasoline.

Ford Tourneo Connect by Tinkervan, is a very versatile camper

Finally, we find that the coach from Huesca also has options to convert the Ford Tourneo Connect, a very versatile model that in its access version 1.5 Ecoboost 114 CV with manual transmission and Trend finish currently has a promotional price of 26,188 euros (31,408 euros without offer and with VAT).

Specifically, there are two packs: 'Comfort' and 'Camper'. From the most basic option, which is around 4,000 euros, the preparation for this compact camper is based on a main module for the rear that does not interfere with daily life, because when it is not needed, it is completely isolated and we will only find it if we open the trunk.

This includes an extendable bed that is almost the size of a double bed and a reclining back piece that doubles as a headboard. Under the bed, we find a removable support that houses a gas cooker, sink, and even a fridge, with a small water tank attached to the back.

Under the kitchen, we will have a small space to put food or utensils. In addition, the main board of the bed module hides a folding table that we can use both inside and outside.

For about 1,000 euros more, the 'Camper' option adds static diesel heating with a programmer, essential if we live or travel regularly to areas with cold climates.

Thus, moving in a range that, in this case, goes from 30,200 euros (if we take advantage of the promotional prices) to 35,405, we can have a camper that drives like a car and offers many possibilities to enjoy sporadic getaways.

But as always, in the camper world, the budget limit is set by each one. The total bill for this and the previous options will always depend on the accessories and complements that we want to add (blinds, kitchenware, chemical toilet...) to have a campervan solution that suits our tastes and needs.
